Infants

Community Christian Day School Infants are ages 6 weeks to 12 months.  In our nursery, we help your baby meet developmental milestones for example: rolling over, head and neck control, sitting up, holding toys, holding bottles, etc.  In order to help meet these milestones and goals, we provide hands-on experiences, teach from a developmentally appropriate curriculum, and provide a welcoming and loving atmosphere.  For our infant class, we follow the daily schedule that you give us for your baby.  We engage your baby through singing songs, clapping, using their names, and mimicking. Hugs, kisses, and cuddle time are very much a part of our everyday routine.
Our educated teachers are trained to work with young children.  They are certified in CPR and First Aid as well as trained for SIDS. Lesson plans are prepared weekly that include activities for Bible, Language Development, Cognitive Development, Physical Development, and Social and Emotional Development.  Outside strolling in our Quad Stroller (weather permitting) provides a breath of fresh air, sunshine, and the sights and sounds of nature.
At Community Christian, we place great emphasis on the individuality of each child. Our program provides the opportunity for your baby to develop at his or her own pace in a loving and secure environment.

 Toddlers

Community Christian Day School Toddlers are ages 12 months to 24 months.  Our school is setup to have 2 toddler classes.  We have a young toddler class, usually 12-18 months and an older toddler class, usually 18-24 months.
Our curriculum is a theme-based curriculum that has a different theme each week.  We focus on a different color, shape, number and letter each week.  Our Bible Curriculum, First Look, is designed to teach your child, through developmentally appropriate activities, three basic truths; God made them, God loves them and Jesus wants to be their friend forever.  Our lesson plans are created to keep toddlers' young minds as active as their toddling bodies. We aim to build vocabulary and teach children to communicate using their words.  Also, we introduce them to more structure, teaching them to sit for small time periods during circle times.  At this age, social development is also important.  We work on skills such as sitting correctly at a table, using manners, washing hands, etc.   We offer activities for children to explore their world through play, creative expression, language and literacy, science and math, music, Bible and art.

 Two-Year Olds

Community Christian Day School Two year olds are generally aged from 24 months to 36 months.  Our school is setup to have 2 two-year old classes.  Our young twos class, Jr. Twos, is 24-30 months and our older twos class, Sr. Twos, is 30-36 months.
Our lesson plans are created to keep young minds as active as their bodies. We offer activities for children to explore their world through play, creative expression, language and literacy, science and math, music, Bible and art.  The main theme in our Sr. Twos classroom is transition, more specifically the changes that assist a toddler in their path to preschool.  Moving from open play to group activities, using words to express themselves instead of hands or sounds, drawing a shape not just scribbling on paper, imagining scenes with friends instead of solitary play – these are just a few of the ways a child can show development in our classroom.  While our group times and art activities promote shapes, colors, cognitive concepts and fine and gross motor skills, our open play and individual interactions with the children encourage autonomy, imagination, problem solving, respecting others, making good choices and mastery of personal care skills like dressing oneself and using the potty.  With tools such as open communication between parents and teachers, clear and consistent guidance to encourage positive behavioral choices, and realistic attainable goals, we can be excited to see just how far each child can progress.

Three-Year Olds

Community Christian Day School Three year olds are generally aged from 36 months to 48 months.  Our school is setup to have 2 three-year old classes.  Our young threes class, is 36-42 months and our older threes class, is 42-48 months.

We offer activities for children to explore their world through play, creative expression, language and literacy, science and math, music, Bible and art.  We teach using hands on learning, through repetition, games, songs, and out of the box techniques, as well.  In our three’s classes, we are teaching and transitioning from parallel play to cooperative play.  The classes offer an introduction to the concept of numbers recognition, counting and geometric shapes and the introduction to the alphabet visually and orally and listening comprehension. Our program strives to further develop the student's self-confidence and social development, focusing on learning to share and relating in a group environment. Our program is designed for hands-on experiences and explorations to help promote learning through the use of language, music, art, games, storytelling, fine and gross motor activities and cognitive activities.

Pre-K

Community Christian Day School Pre-K classes are for children who will be entering Kindergarten the following year. Our school offers 2 Pre-K classes.
We use the ABeka Curriculum for our Pre-K classes.  We focus on a different color, shape, number and letter each week.  Our Bible Curriculum, First Look, is designed to teach your child, through developmentally appropriate activities, three basic truths; God made them, God loves them and Jesus wants to be their friend forever.  Our lesson plans are created to keep young minds as active as their bodies. We offer activities for children to explore their world through play, creative expression, language and literacy, science and math, music, Bible and art
Pre-K objectives will be taught to prepare students for kindergarten.  We use the Tennessee Early Learning Developmental Standards for determining progress.  Our focus will be primarily on letter/sound recognition as a basis for learning primary phonics skills.  We will also continue to focus on basic skills; shapes, numbers, colors, calendar, etc.  Fine motor skill enhancement will also be a part of our daily learning.
Our interactive, thematic and conceptual based curriculum has created a unique balance in the language-reading learning process.  We encourage the development of readiness skills through storytelling, real language experience, literature based activities, math manipulatives, science and discovery experiments, free art as well as individual and group activity.
